Meet the Team

Our Principal Mike Poynter has over 30 years of legal experience holding a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne. He also holds a Diploma of Advanced Securities from the Securities Institute of Australia.

Mike is a dedicated lawyer with expertise spanning family law, estate planning, small business and commercial matters, litigation, and trusts. He is known for his down to earth, client-first approach and the genuine care he brings to every matter. Beyond his work with clients, Mike is passionate about mentoring his team, helping them grow their knowledge of the law and develop a thoughtful, compassionate approach to supporting people through important life and business decisions.

Outside the office, Mike values quality time with family and friends and enjoys keeping active through yoga. He has a love for travel and new experiences, and you will often find him passionately supporting his AFL team, the Essendon Bombers. R

Lauren studied at Australian Catholic University studying a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Human Resource Management in 2018 and later returned to complete a Bachelor of Laws which she completed in 2024. Lauren was admitted to the  Supreme Court of Victoria in February 2025. 

Lauren is a talented and versatile lawyer with a focus on family law, deceased estates, estate administration, and estate planning. She also contributes her skills to the MCP Commercial team and enjoys exploring matters in property law. Known for her adaptability and genuine care for clients, Lauren brings both expertise and enthusiasm to every matter she works on.

Outside of work, Lauren is a proud wife and mum to two young girls, keeping life both busy and rewarding. She loves exploring local towns and discovering hidden gems like new cafés, markets, and wineries. A people-person at heart, she enjoys socialising with friends and family, but also treasures quiet moments with a good book. Coming from a family of passionate football fans, she never misses the chance to watch a game whenever she can.

Angus graduated with Distinction from the University of Wollongong in 2024, completing a Bachelor of Laws alongside a Bachelor of International Studies (International Relations), before being admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in July 2025.

Originally from the Riverina in NSW, Angus is a passionate and empathetic lawyer with experience across wills and estate planning, family law, and dispute resolution. He is committed to supporting clients with clear, practical advice and a genuine focus on their needs. He takes the time to understand each client’s individual circumstances, ensuring they feel heard and confident throughout the legal process.

Beyond the law, Angus enjoys playing local footy for Prahran, proudly supporting St Kilda Football Club, and relaxing with his two cats.
